Luis de la Fuente Extends Spain Contract Through 2030 World Cup

Luis de la Fuente will remain at the helm of the Spanish men’s national football team through at least the 2030 FIFA World Cup after finalizing a contract renewal with the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF).

The 65-year-old manager’s previous agreement had been scheduled to conclude at the end of Euro 2028. According to RFEF president Rafael Louzán, the updated commitment provides improved financial terms for De la Fuente, while also leaving the door open for an additional extension past 2030.

Continued Leadership on the Global Stage

The contract extension follows a period of major international success for Spain under De la Fuente’s management. During his tenure, the national side lifted the UEFA Nations League trophy in 2023, secured the Euro 2024 title, and claimed the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

A primary feature of the new contract is ensuring De la Fuente oversees Spain during the 2030 FIFA World Cup, which will be co-hosted across Spain, Portugal, and Morocco. The cross-continental arrangement places North Africa in the international spotlight as Morocco prepares to stage matches alongside its European partners.
