Football star Lionel Messi has announced the dates for the second edition of The Messi Cup, an elite youth football tournament scheduled to return to South Florida. The upcoming competition will take place from October 25 to November 1, 2026, bringing together top-tier youth prospects from across the globe.

Founded by Messi, the competition is organized through his production company, 525 Rosario. Designed specifically for under-16 squads, the platform aims to provide emerging young footballers with an international arena to test their capabilities against high-caliber opposition. The 2026 edition reflects a significant expansion in scale compared to the tournament’s inaugural staging.

Expanded Roster of Global Academies

A total of 16 clubs representing nine nations across three continents have been confirmed for the 2026 event. The lineup draws from premier youth academies across South America and Europe, alongside North American representation through Messi’s current club, Inter Miami.

The European cohort features English sides Manchester City, Chelsea, and Arsenal; Spanish clubs FC Barcelona, Atlético de Madrid, and UE Cornellà; Italy’s Inter Milan; the Netherlands’ Ajax; and Portugal’s Benfica. South America will be represented by historic Argentine clubs River Plate, Boca Juniors, and Newell’s Old Boys, alongside Brazilian giants Flamengo and Palmeiras, and Ecuador’s Independiente del Valle.
