Eguavoen Names 28-Player Super Falcons Olympic Qualifying Squad

Augustine Eguavoen has announced his maiden squad for Nigeria’s national women’s football team, the Super Falcons, as preparations begin for their 2028 Olympic Games qualifying encounter against Comoros.

The announcement initiates a new era for the Super Falcons under Eguavoen, who has summoned a total of 28 players for the qualifying campaign. The roster features an established core of high-profile internationals, including team captain Rasheedat Ajibade, forward Asisat Oshoala, and defenders Michelle Alozie and Ashley Plumptre.

Squad Breakdown Across Departments

Goalkeeping duties will be headlined by Brighton & Hove Albion’s Chiamaka Nnadozie, who is joined in the squad by Portsmouth Ladies’ Comfort Erhabor and Edo Queens’ Christiana Uzoma. In defence, Plumptre and Alozie are listed alongside Oluwatosin Demehin, Glory Ogbonna, Shukurat Oladipo, Farida Abdulwahab, Glory Edet, and Tumininu Adeshina.

The midfield selection features overseas-based professionals including Jennifer Echegini of Paris Saint-Germain, Toni Payne of Inter Milan, Christy Ucheibe of Al-Hilal, and Fenerbahce Ladies’ Suliat Abideen. The department is rounded out by Joy Igbokwe, Favour Nkwocha, and Fatimoh Solaty.

Nigeria’s offensive options will rely on the pedigree of Ajibade and Oshoala, who will be joined in the forward line by Flourish Sabastine and Shakirat Moshood as the team prepares to face Comoros.
