BNXN Explores Effortless Romance on ‘If You Like’

Nigerian singer and songwriter BNXN leans into themes of relaxed affection and lavish courtship on his track “If You Like,” featured on his “Still In Charge” extended play. Produced with introductory cues from Shemzbond, the record demonstrates the artist’s signature smooth delivery over a mid-tempo backdrop.

Themes of Luxury and Devotion

Lyrically, the song focuses on unbothered, low-pressure devotion. BNXN extends offers of romantic commitment and bespoke travel—such as trips to Mykonos—while leaving the ultimate choice in the hands of his romantic partner. Rather than forcing a connection, the track frames romance around mutual ease and consent, even in the face of potential heartbreak.

The composition also balances aspirational imagery with references to external detractors. BNXN touches on material luxury, pairing references to high-end vehicles like Porsche and Mercedes-Benz with commentary dismissing the interference and envy of peer circles. Throughout the verses and chorus, he maintains a detached and self-assured demeanor regarding outside criticism.

For contemporary African acts, this blend of soft romantic themes and lifestyle aspiration continues to serve as a reliable songwriting approach. By prioritizing laid-back vocal arrangements and relatable relationship dynamics, artists like BNXN maintain strong accessibility for listeners across both domestic and international streaming markets.
