Lagos Selected to Host 2026 CAF Awards in December

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially confirmed that Lagos, Nigeria, will serve as the host city for the 2026 edition of the CAF Awards. The announcement followed a decision by the CAF Executive Committee, which scheduled the annual continental celebration for Monday, December 7, 2026.

The CAF Awards stand as the continent’s premier recognition platform in sports, acknowledging top performances across African football over the calendar year. The gala honours leading male and female players, national teams, coaches, and clubs, gathering prominent athletes, administrators, and public figures from across Africa and beyond.

The awards will cap a significant late-year presence for the confederation in Nigeria. Prior to the ceremony, the country is also set to stage the CAF Ordinary General Assembly on Saturday, November 21, 2026, welcoming member associations and international football leadership weeks before the gala takes place.

While CAF has confirmed Lagos as the designated host city, the confederation has not yet revealed the specific event center or venue that will house the ceremony. High-profile sporting showcases of this scale typically present key visibility and collaborative opportunities for the host city’s broader creative economy, including live event production and entertainment talent.
