Waje and Shoday Release ‘My Sunshine’ for Funke Akindele Film

Nigerian vocalists Waje and Shoday have teamed up on a new single titled “My Sunshine,” recorded for the official soundtrack of Funke Akindele’s upcoming feature film, The Four…no one fights alone!. The track has been distributed to digital streaming platforms, while its official music video has premiered on the FAAN_TV channel on YouTube.

The single draws direct thematic inspiration from the film’s narrative, in which both recording artists appear as cast members. In the production, Waje stars as Esosa, while Shoday plays her son, Obaloluwa. Exploring the lengths a parent will go to protect her child, the composition translates their on-screen dynamic into music, focusing on maternal commitment, resilience, and personal sacrifice.

Soundtrack Integration and Film Synergies

Set across Lagos and the Odu community, the film’s plot follows Esosa alongside three loyal female companions as their collective courage, faith, and mutual bonds are tested. The musical duet bridges this storyline by pairing Waje, an award-winning singer known for her soulful vocal style, with Shoday, an Afrobeats artist who gained wide attention through his single “Caution.”

For the broader African creative economy, commissioned cinematic soundtracks continue to serve as an effective commercial bridge connecting Nollywood with the recording industry. Utilizing tailored original music creates cross-promotional value for both industries, sustaining audience interest and driving digital streaming ahead of the feature film’s theatrical debut on December 11, 2026.
