Tekno Stages London Concert for Nigeria’s Independence
Nigerian recording artist and producer Tekno staged a headline performance at Village Underground in London on Sunday, October 4. Organized around celebrations for Nigeria’s 66th Independence, the concert gathered diaspora music enthusiasts in the British capital to hear the Afrobeats performer revisit key moments from his catalogue alongside his newest releases.
The showcase was presented with sponsorship support from emPawa Africa and was hosted by Mr A Star. Taking the stage alongside a full live band, Tekno led the audience through an energetic setlist featuring career-defining hits such as “Pana” and “Duro.” Concert attendees engaged actively throughout the evening, singing along as the singer moved seamlessly between older records and more recent studio work.
Showcasing New Material on the International Stage
The London appearance comes during a productive chapter for Tekno following recent additions to his catalogue. In July, the singer released an eight-track album titled Where Did Love Go?, followed by his latest promotional single, “Atlanta.” The concert at Village Underground allowed the performer to introduce this newer material in a live setting alongside the foundational songs that originally brought him international prominence.
For the wider African music industry, diaspora-centered events in major metropolitan markets like London remain a crucial channel for building live performance revenue and sustaining artist relevance. Partnerships with music companies such as emPawa Africa demonstrate how structured commercial backing facilitates live visibility for African talent abroad, giving both legacy hits and recent projects continuous traction on the global stage.
