Raphinha Sidelined for Barcelona’s Next Two Matches
Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has confirmed that Brazilian attacker Raphinha will not feature in the team’s upcoming domestic and European fixtures due to a muscular concern picked up while on international duty.
Precautionary Rest for the Captain
The 29-year-old forward sustained the issue during the recent international break with Brazil, prompting evaluation upon his return to the Catalan side. Speaking during a press conference on Friday, October 9, Flick stated that medical assessments found no major damage, but the coaching and medical staff have decided to rest him as a preventative measure.
Flick pointed out that the team must manage Raphinha’s workload carefully after the player endured three different injuries over the course of the previous season. As a result, the club chose to avoid taking any unnecessary chances with the team captain’s physical condition.
The temporary absence means Raphinha will miss Barcelona’s La Liga fixture against Getafe on Saturday, October 10. He is also ruled out of the club’s UEFA Champions League encounter against Turkish side Galatasaray on Tuesday, October 13.
