Zoro Swagbag Releases New Indigenous Rap Single ‘Settings’

Nigerian rapper Zoro Swagbag has returned to the release calendar with a new single titled “Settings.” The high-energy rap record follows his September release, “Big Shot,” ensuring the artist carries strong creative momentum into the final quarter of the year.

Rooted firmly in Zoro’s signature blend of hip-hop and indigenous Igbo elements, the track pairs heavy, bass-heavy percussion with traditional instrumentation. A defining acoustic element of the song is the traditional Oja flute, performed by Ojadili Igbo, which provides an organic regional texture over modern, hard-hitting rap drums.

Collaborative Production and Cultural Themes

Behind the boards, the production of “Settings” was jointly managed by Izzy Beatzz and renowned Nigerian music producer Masterkraft. The track also features extensive creative input across vocal arrangements and post-production, with songwriter Only1Klem contributing to the writing and backing vocals alongside Ruffcoin. Additional vocal contributions include an outro performed by Mr Tee Albino, with Selebobo taking charge of the technical mixing and mastering process.

Lyrically, the song addresses themes of lifestyle elevation, self-assurance, and the nuances of achieving success. Zoro delivers his lines with rapid, authoritative pacing, weaving Igbo language verses with English and Nigerian Pidgin. Through colloquial proverbs and structured punchlines, the rapper builds toward a repetitive, accessible hook purposefully crafted to drive crowd engagement during live performances.

For the wider African music industry, records like “Settings” underscore the commercial longevity and artistic relevance of vernacular hip-hop. Having previously established his cultural footprint with landmark collaborations such as “Ogene” featuring Flavour and “Achikolo” featuring Phyno, Zoro continues to demonstrate how indigenous language and regional instruments can successfully anchor contemporary rap releases.
